Khmer students for Democracy is a non-profit organization, founded by students in the USA. Its purpose is to collect news and info and forward it to Khmer students worldwide. It has introduced students in Cambodia to many scholarship institutions and colleges abroad. It is involved with colleges and universities.

Khmer refers to the Khmer people, the ethnic group to which the great majority of Cambodians belong. The Khmer language is the language of the Khmer and the official language of Cambodia. Most Cambodians are Theravada Buddhists of Khmer extraction, but the country also has a substantial number of predominantly Muslim Cham, as well as ethnic Chinese, Vietnamese and small animist hill tribes.

The Kingdom of Cambodia, formerly known as Kampuchea is a country in Southeast Asia with a population of over 13 million people. With Phnom Penh as the capital city, Cambodia is the successor state of the once-powerful Hindu and Buddhist Khmer Empire, which ruled most of the Indochinese Peninsula between the eleventh and fourteenth centuries.
